Deception Island is a small volcanic island on the northern Antarctic Peninsula. It can be really tricky to get into and out of so not many people get to visit it. It used to be a British whaling station and then, when they ran out of whales, it became a resupply depot for the British Antarctic program. It's not an active station any more but there's still lots of things left from when it was. See Amber's website for more pictures.
